Our proprietary cBTE technology is the only DEL platform that screens inside intact living cells.  For difficult targets or targets that cannot be purified this is the difference between a screening campaign that works and one that cannot start.

The only DEL screening technology that works inside living cells

Most DEL providers require a purified, stable protein target. If you cannot produce one or if your target only functions in its native cellular environment, they cannot help you. Vipergen’s cellular Binder Trap Enrichment (cBTE) technology removes this constraint entirely.

Things people ask before working with us

Honest answers to the questions that come up most often when evaluating Vipergen

We already have an HTS library. Why would we use DEL screening instead?
HTS and DEL screening are not mutually exclusive but for specific challenges DEL screening offers something HTS cannot. If your target is hard to purify, if you need to screen in a cellular context, or if previous HTS campaigns have given poor hits, DEL gives you access to a fundamentally different chemical space. Many teams run DEL screening campaigns on targets where HTS has already failed.
What does Vipergen need from us to get started?

It depends on which service you select. For in vitro screening (BTE), we typically need a small amount of purified target protein. For cell-based screening (cBTE) no purified protein is required and we will only need the sequence of your protein of interest. For most services, we can begin a project scoping conversation with nothing more than a description of your target and your program goals. 

How is Vipergen different from other DEL providers?

The most significant difference is cBTE — our cell-based DEL screening technology. No other DEL provider offers the ability to screen inside living cells without a purified protein target. Beyond that, our high-fidelity YoctoReactor® libraries are built with lead-likeness in mind from the start, our team has deep expertise in the specific target classes most relevant to modern drug discovery programs, and we are structured to work as a true scientific partner rather than a sample-processing service.

Can you handle confidential targets? How is IP protected?

Yes. All projects are covered by mutual NDAs before any target information is shared. Exclusive reservation and full ownership transfer of hit compounds are both available.

What happens if the screen does not yield useful hits?
We work closely with partners during project scoping to assess target tractability and set realistic expectations before a campaign begins. If a screen yields limited hits, we provide full data transparency and work with you to understand why and what the options are. Our goal is to be a genuine scientific partner, which means being honest about what the data shows rather than delivering an overly optimistic summary.
We are a small biotech with limited budget. Is Vipergen accessible for us?
Yes. Vipergen Snap projects are designed to make DEL screening accessible without compromising on outcome quality. They are full screening packages with a predefined, optimized setup—enabling rapid, cost-efficient execution with minimal material requirements. Compared to fully customized campaigns, Snap projects offer a more structured scope, but still deliver meaningful hit identification.
